Has Google Abandoned the Industrial B2B space?

Google has shut down its 'Google Shopping for Suppliers'. This announcement outlines the closure of the program, that had been considered a competitor to Amazon’s Industrial B2B play, AmazonSupply.com. By the way we noted that AmazonSupply now includes downloadable CAD models for some parts - a further validation of the importance of part CAD model downloads for industrial suppliers!

Google's announcement says:

"We've learned a lot throughout the pilot and will integrate many of the learnings into other Google products"

"Google has no plans to release another Shopping for Suppliers-like product"

"Instead, we recommend that eligible customers consider Google Shopping and Google AdWords."

This has removed any possible confusion that might have occurred between 'Google Shopping' and 'Google Shopping for Suppliers' but other than that we can't speculate though some others have.. For example, see: www.inddist.com/blogs/2014/07/google-shuts-down-google-shopping-suppliers) and www.mdm.com/blogs/20-distribution-operations/post/32192-google-shopping-for-suppliers-shuts-down.

That's what we think, but please tell us what you think?
